Twilight Imperium
Description | Twilight Imperium (fourth edition) is considered by many to be one of the best strategy board games ever made. But this game should only be considered for game based learning with experienced and dedicated students, as the complexity rating is extremely high.
Due to the complexity, the game affords an extremely high level of challenge, replay-ability and fun for students who are dedicated to the game, but the length of time for a match can be off-putting. Best played with 4-6 players (with the capacity for 8), the game puts players in control of a galactic empire that seeks to carve out dominance of the galaxy through either diplomacy, economic, scientific, or militaristic means (usually a mixture of all). With players constantly afforded big decisions, with meaningful impactful choices. Negotiation and diplomacy are crucial to a success.
It is also possible to let groups of students control one "team / faction" within twilight imperium and to spread the game out over multiple sessions.
Average game length: 4-6 hours. |
