Starcraft 2

Description
Platforms: PC Publisher: Microsoft (Blizzard Entertainment) Year of release: 2010 Starcraft 2 is considered by many to be the pinnacle of the real-time strategy genre. Sequel to Starcraft which in many ways popularised esports and brough professional esports to the world thanks to professional leagues established in Korea during the early 2000’s. Starcraft 2 builds upon its predecessor's legacy with new units, maps and storylines. The game is complicated to understand for modern students (Real-time strategy as a genre is quite complex), but is an excellent tool for learning strategy, logistics and optimisation, as well as numeracy, problem solving and tactical thinking. The game can be played in teams of up to 4, has co-op vs AI modes and a range of additional features to ensure there’s something for all skill levels. The multiplayer features are free-to-play but if players wish to try the story campaign, that requires payment.
